Robust Design Workshops

Main gatherings of the SIG within the Design Society are regular Workshops at ICED as well as DESIGN conferences, where we meet, share experiences, and discuss new developments which are of interest to the SIG members. Particularly the interdisciplinary mindset and the largely different background of participants thereby provides a unique environment to discuss:

1. New research directions and technologic opportunities for a design-driven RD approach.
2. The role of engineering-focused design research within the design society.

We are deeply convinced that basic mechanical design skills are important for many aspects of (Robust) Design research. For this reason, we try to keep our workshops as hands-on as possible, built around case examples and including physical samples, case files, CAD models, etc. for worthwhile discussions.
